What becomes possible when we engage in authentic trust building and repair? What truths or harms need to be said/acknowledged and by whom? What narratives about trust are holding us back? In this talk, Dr. Banks will share why trust is critical for social transformation, how we need to shift the narrative on trust, and how we can better understand the cultural and contextual nuances of trust in a given context or partnership. Participants will be invited to move away from trust as static, one-dimensional, and separate from our racial and cultural identities toward a deeper experience of trust that is fluid and culturally rooted. Using the Center for Trust and Transformation’s Trust Compass, Dr. Banks will explore the intersection of trust and identities, contexts, values, and privilege and how they play a role in the fight for racial equity and social justice. This session aims to support participants to move toward an experience of trust that is grounded in truth and possibilities.
